This Week at Cross Church | I Love My Church Day is Sunday, February 15

ILoveCC2015-BlogSince 1988, we have observed I LOVE MY CHURCH DAY faithfully every year in our fellowship! In a day when many are suspicious of the church and others are negative about the church in America, we need to always call people to Jesus and to what He loves. Jesus loves His Church!

Prioritize Worship and Small Group on Sunday, February 15

Some of you will use Friday or Saturday night to celebrate Valentine’s Day, and we rejoice that you will. Yet, do NOT forget or neglect worship on February 15 with Cross Church. The message will conclude our series, and I promise it will be very encouraging and challenging to your life personally and our entire fellowship of Cross Church. BRING someone with you, or INVITE others to join you on February 15.

On Monday, I Released an Article I Really Want You to Read

Heroic Leadership-BlogOn Monday, February 9, I released an article entitled, America Needs Heroic Leadership in the Present, Leadership That Champions Religious Liberty Globally. Please take the time to read this article and help me distribute it by sending to your friends, colleagues, and family members.

Cross Church Family, we need each of you to rise up and declare that we must do something about this global crisis. We need to call upon our local, state, and national politicians to work together toward strategic action globally. For those of you who have influence in your companies or corporations, rise up and use that influence for the cause of religious liberty globally.

You may think “I cannot do that,” but children, women, and men are being brutalized, abused, and murdered by the thousands. We cannot sit back and say nothing and do nothing. We must rise up now!

Entering a Major Season Where I Need Prayer Like Never Before

I know you may be weary of me saying this, but church, I need you so much to pray for me. On Sunday afternoon, Jeana and I leave for the significant gathering of our Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee. This meeting is also attended by the national leaders of our SBC entities as well as many of our State Executives.

I have the responsibility and honor to speak to them and be involved in or lead several major meetings. When I wrap up there, I am driving to Columbus, Ohio, for a day, and then fly home on Wednesday night.

As I continue to keep the leadership of our Cross Church Family a priority, I have the responsibility of leading meetings and preparing for many preaching engagements across America which I have the privilege to be a part of during this time as President of the SBC.

Therefore, I need prayer like never before. In order for you to pray for me specifically, I share my schedule with you throughout the remainder of February. Thankfully, I will be here during some weeks and every Sunday this month.

  • February 16-17: Executive Committee of the SBC in Nashville, Tennessee, speaking on Monday evening, February 16
  • February 16: Great Commission Council Meeting
  • February 16: Speaking to Executive Committee
  • February 17: Leading luncheon meeting, SBC Financial Future
  • February 18: Cedarville University Chapel, Cedarville, Ohio
  • February 18: Speaking to Collegiate Leaders, Columbus, Ohio
  • February 20: Wheaton Evangelism Conference, Wheaton, Illinois
  • February 23: Kentucky Baptist Evangelism Conference, Louisville, Kentucky
  • February 24: Southern Baptists of Texas Convention Cooperative Program Luncheon in Euless, Texas
  • February 24: Florida Baptist Evangelism Conference, Jacksonville, Florida
  • February 25: National Religious Broadcasters Convention, Nashville, Tennessee
  • February 27: Memphis Men’s Conference, Memphis, Tennessee

Therefore, Cross Church, please pray for prioritization of my responsibilities, wisdom at all times, sermon preparation, spiritual leadership, travel grace, and safety.

I Love You and I Love Cross Church,

Ronnie W. Floyd

This Week at Cross Church | Your Investment in the Kingdom of God

Capitol-BlogToday, I have attended the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D. C. as a guest of Congressman and Mrs. Steve Womack. I count it a real privilege to do so and am thankful to our friend and Cross Church member, Congressman Steve Womack, for inviting Jeana and me.

Lifeway-Blog

Thank You for Investing in God’s Kingdom

I am so grateful for your investment in God’s Kingdom as a church. Your willingness in this unique season to share me and send me out to serve as President of the Southern Baptist Convention is a personal joy and blessing. Please know I represent you everywhere I go and count it a privilege and great responsibility.

Just this week, I was able to attend the major plenary session of the Board of Trustees of LifeWay Christian Resources. This $500 million corporation is a ministry that has to operate in a business culture, and is one of the most powerful anywhere in the world. Our own Wayne Story is a member of their Board of Trustees. After hearing the incredible ministry report from friend and President, Dr. Thom Rainer, I had the joy to speak to their Board of Trustees. While you may see LifeWay stores in various cities across America, this is just one of their arms of ministry. They are the premiere Christian publisher of their kind in the world.

FrankPage-BlogAfter spending Monday with them, Tuesday morning was spent with various staff members of the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention. This esteemed group, under Dr. Frank Page, operates our convention in the day-to-day financial, business, and communication affairs. Together, we are preparing for the annual meeting of our Southern Baptist Convention this June in Columbus, Ohio.

Tuesday afternoon, I flew to Washington D. C., where Jeana connected with me. Together on Wednesday, we met with various Southern Baptist members of the House and Senate. We have 31 Southern Baptists who serve in the United States House of Representatives and eight Southern Baptists who are members of the United States Senate. Then today, we attended the National Prayer Breakfast, and will begin our journey home this afternoon.

Your Investment Continues Next Week

Yes, the work goes on here at the same time. Simultaneously, while on the road, I am connected, charting the future of Cross Church with our team. Next Monday and Tuesday, I am fully engaged here in meetings with our team and will participate in two Southern Baptist Convention conference calls.

SendNA-BlogOn Tuesday, February 10, I will host over 100 pastors in our own SEND NORTH AMERICA luncheon, mobilizing them to join us and bring their laypeople to Cross Church on Wednesday night, April 15. Our SEND NORTH AMERICA EXPERIENCE with Dr. David Platt, President of the International Mission Board, will be that evening. Dr. David Platt will be preaching and the Passion Band will be leading in worship. Yes, you must mark your calendar now for Wednesday night, April 15and join us at Cross Church. You will love this night! We must have a burden for and reach North America for Christ!

On Wednesday of next week, I will spend the entire day in Florida with the state executives and state editors of our forty-two state conventions, who are a part of our Southern Baptist Convention. I love these leaders and appreciate all they do for the gospel. They are key and pivotal leaders in God’s Kingdom.

ToddStarnes-BlogI will have the joy of leading our Northwest Arkansas Business Persons Summit next week. Listen church, you must join me next Thursday, February 12. Todd Starnes of FOX NEWS will be our guest. We heard Todd in Houston at the rally for the five pastors whose sermons were subpoenaed. He is a strong, conservative Southern Baptist who is a member of a Southern Baptist church in New York City. You will love Todd Starnes. He is a man with a dynamic faith and has huge influence to thousands and thousands of people.

Pray for Me

Therefore, Cross Church Family, pray for me.  I am excited about what God is doing here and around the world. We need each other now more than ever before. Let’s pray for one another.

I love you Cross Church!

Yours for the Great Commission,

Ronnie W. Floyd
