This Week at Cross Church | Thankfulness
What I am Thankful for in My Life
In this week of Thanksgiving, I want to testify to just a few things I am thankful for in my life. While this could be endless, I will be brief. I am thankful for:
- Jesus living in my life today
- Every day of good health I experience
- God’s calling upon my life
- Pastoring the same church for thirty-one years
- Kingdom opportunities afforded to me through the years, from serving as President of the Southern Baptist Convention to now serving as President of the National Day of Prayer
- Marriage to Jeana for forty-one years this coming December 31
- Our children and grandchildren: Josh, Kate, Peyton, Parker, and Jack; and Nick, Meredith, Reese, Beckham, Norah, and Maya
- The love our children, their spouses, and their children, have for Christ and His Church
- Both of my sons being difference-makers and investing in the lives of others
- Every person I have the privilege of working with right now
Oh yes, the list could go on and on. Thank you, Lord!
Thousands Provided Food for Thanksgiving
I am so thankful for the thousands in our Cross Church Family who have provided food for thousands of people in our region this week. This team effort has been such a legacy of faithful service to so many across the years. Cross Church is an amazing church that has huge arms of compassion and love for all people.
The Bible is What We Preach Here
In this day and time when so many are watering down the Bible and its message, I am so thankful that our church does not. Right now in our Home for the Holidays series, we are in a text-driven message series that talks about what God says. This past week, we talked about a very delicate, but biblical subject: What God says about the bedroom. In this age of sexual revolution, we need to know about sex from the Bible’s perspective. If you missed Sunday, take the time to watch here.
I Love You, Dear People
Thank you for allowing me the privilege to serve you and with you. You are a great people of God. You are a great church! I love you.
Happy Thanksgiving!
