This Week at Cross Church | Prayer and Gratitude

An Estimated 70% of the Campus of First Baptist Church, Bossier City, Louisiana, Lost to a Fire… Pray

Early on Monday morning, Dr. Brad Jurkovich, Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church in Bossier City, Louisiana, received a call from the city’s fire chief. The fire department was responding to a fire at their large campus. Thank God, it was early morning, and no one was on campus. Firefighters worked hard to control the blaze, and it took much of the day. Even with their efforts, the church lost an estimated 70% of the campus to this fire. Thousands of square feet are gone. Their worship center and children’s facility were protected. We are thankful the church is made of people and not buildings, yet this large congregation is in for major adjustments through this devastating loss of property. Brad and Stephanie Jurkovich came from our church family – Jeana and I introduced them, and I had the privilege of performing their marriage ceremony. Brad has preached here, and I have preached in his church. Their Lead Student Pastor, Ian Dunaway, is from our church family as well. Ian grew up at Cross Church and joined the staff at Bossier City within the past year. Pray for these men, the rest of their staff, and their church family as they navigate these challenging times.

Gratitude Overflows

I am so thankful for God’s work through our Cross Church worship experience, Peace On Earth, that occurred on Sunday and Monday this past week. Thousands attended, and many thanks to the many people who gave their time to lead this ministry effort. Additionally, thank you to our entire Cross Church Worship and Media Teams, and volunteers and staff who served.

Read About the Impact

Our church has been highly involved in the National Day of Prayer since August 2017, and will be again through 2019. Please take the time to read the 2018 Impact Report of the National Day of Prayer. Your church is making a difference. Please help us continue to do so for the glory of God. You can read the 2018 Impact Report of the National Day of Prayer here.

See the Impact of What God is Doing Through Cross Church

This past Sunday, we took over four minutes in the worship service to show this outstanding video of a few of the things God is doing through Cross Church. If you will watch this video, I know your heart will be so encouraged. You can see the impact of Cross Church right here.

Make Sure All is Right with the Lord Financially Before the End of December 31, 2018

The big question we need to ask ourselves this holiday season is not whether we have purchased gifts for everyone on our list. It is this one: Have we honored God by giving at least the first one-tenth of all He has given to us through our local church in 2018 and if not yet, are we ready to do so before December 31? We need to evaluate everything financially in a serious manner: personal finances in salary, bonuses, or additional income related to dividends, stock, inheritance, or property in the year 2018. If you have any questions, please contact Ben Mayes in our Financial Department of Cross Church by calling 479.751.4523.

See you Sunday for The Christmas Miracle,
